Micheal and Nina's moon inspired engagement ring
Micheal and Nina's bespoke 9ct white gold and palladium engagement ring has been inspired by the moon. Their own ~7mm (1.74ct) brilliant cut deep blue sapphire has been set in an all around setting in the centre of the ring, with a crescent moon each side facing out representing the three phases of the moon. Four ~1.5mm sapphires and three new 1.5mm sapphires, two new 1.5mm HSi 1 diamonds and one new heat treated black diamond (all brilliant cut) have been scattered around the band, adding splashes of colour to the highly polished ring. These heat treated diamonds are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and costs many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures, for eg by a jeweller during a resize, so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stones must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
