Encapsulating Orca Memories for Sonja
Sonja's platinum engagement ring is laced with meaning and sentiment. It features invisibly set round cut blue sapphires and brilliant cut diamonds with a Killer Whale inspired engraving. It is complete with an overall polished finish.
Adam and Sonja's Story
To celebrate her 50th birthday, Sonja and Adam wanted an engagement ring that would capture a myriad of milestones. From their lives as a couple, to becoming parents and other significant images that have appeared over their lives.
The starting point of the inspiration came from a bangle that was gifted to her, which has Canadian Inuit engravings, namely an eagle and other significant animals. This then linked to a special memory of a solo travelling adventure, that Sonja embarked upon in 2003. Whilst kayaking just off the American coast, she witnessed a mother killer whale and her two calves swimming alongside her. They tilted their bodies so much so that she could see their eyes, before they swam back below into the sea.
In the Canadian Inuit culture, Killer whales link to totem poles with a meaning rooted in family, community, travel and protection. It is said they protect you while you are away from home but lead you back when the time comes. They stay in the same pod and raise their calves with care. This image not only resonated as a personal experience, but also with how they feel about their own family and life journey. And of course, linked back to the cuff from her grandmother. To complete the look, the sapphire is her birthstone, and Adam loves deep sparkle and vivid blues.
It is truly the perfect emulation of their life.
