Celebrating Colour, Light, Metaphysics and Love for Kate

Kate wanted her combined engagement and wedding ring to perfectly encompass her love of bright colours and her family's love, and history, of geology. This stunning rainbow inspired ring was created using CAD and crafted from 9ct yellow gold. From left to right we channel set a red ruby, an orange sapphire, a yellow sapphire, a round cut tsavorite, pale blue sapphire, a mid blue sapphire, a violet sapphire and a magenta sapphire. All of which are 2.5mm and round cut. In two rows off-set from the centre above and below the rainbow we have also channel set ten 1.5mm white sapphire for some extra sparkle. The whole piece is brought together with a polished finish.

Kate Tells Her Story

For me it all started with the dream/goal/vision board and a year-long intensive self-help study on ‘calling in the one’. Martin was my 6th date … we met on 13th April 2011 and since then our love & companionship has blossomed.

My father was one of the geologists whose research in Botswana lead to the finding of the De Beers Orapa Diamond Mine & he had a wonderful selection of rock crystals as a geologist teacher. From a child I have been entranced by crystals and semi-precious stones. Then, in the early 1990s I trained as Light, Colour and Sound Healer and my love affair with light, colour, sound, movement and metaphysics began.

When it came to an engagement ring, it needed to demonstrate flow and reflect my love for light, colour and metaphysics. I wanted something practical and which doubled up as a wedding band too. Martin and I discussed purchasing an engagement ring from the High Street and after looking we decided neither of these options appealed to us. In the end we decided the best way forward was bespoke design as this would fit Martin’s love of engineering and my love of colour and metaphysics.

After much research, we chose Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery to assist us with the creation of my ring. We knew we had made the right choice because of a synchronous side story... Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery head office in Hertfordshire lies just outside Weston, the village where my grandfather Percy was born and raised. His father was the landlord of the Red Lion Inn from 1910 to 1944, just up the road! Percy married, Joyce, a jewellery designer and artist from South Africa. Percy & Joyce’s love story has woven its way into Martin’s and mine through Weston and bespoke jewellery design and thus HK Bespoke.

In the designing process, Martin’s engineering eye was taken into account and the design modified accordingly, and so was my love of colour and light with stone choice.

“Thank you to the team for the work you put in to creating the ring of our love and commitment. We are thrilled with the result!”

“We wanted to make sure the colours for the rainbow at the centre of the ring were accurate and met Kate's vision. Sourcing the perfect stones meant the end result meets all expectations.”
