A silver and gold ring to celebrate a silver wedding anniversary
Helen couldn't wear her engagement or wedding rings, so when Michael was thinking about a silver wedding anniversary present he thought it would be nice to use these to create something new and modern. Their daughter showed me a couple of images of some very striking, geometric designs which we decided to use as inspiration. The Sterling silver band is 6mm wide and has a reverse D profile for comfort. The 3mm round cut sapphire and diamond from Helen's engagement ring appear to be tension set in a diagonal opening at the front. We have melted up the yellow gold from the two original rings to create a parallel stripe on the right hand edge of the gap to give the ring a more asymmetric, contemporary feel. The yellow gold is satinised to further contrast with the high shine of the silver.
