Michelle's palladium mountain inspired engagement ring
Kevin and Michelle came to see me in our Halls Green studio to design a palladium engagement ring inspired by mountains. We designed this ring based around a central trilliant cut 5.7mm 0.32ct heat treated blue diamond with smaller blue and white HSi diamonds graduating away from the central stone in a mountain shaped overlay; two 2mm and two 1.5mm and one 1.2mm totalling 0.06cts.These heat treated diamonds are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and costs many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures, for eg by a jeweller during a resize, so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stones must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work. The ring has been finished to a high polish and has a gently curved profile.
