Bespoke platinum engagement ring with sky blue heat-treated diamonds
This gorgeous platinum engagement ring has an unusual 5mm (0.50ct) brilliant cut heat treated sky blue diamond in a four claw setting, giving a traditional twist to this asymmetric design. One of the shoulders has three 1.5mm brilliant cut diamonds set into an elongaged petal shaped channel. The shoulder diamonds graduate in colour, one sky blue, one ice blue and one white (H SI). These stones lead your eye around from the bright white of the band to the stunning, deep colour of the central diamond. Coloured diamonds like this get their beautiful colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
