Platinum and diamond combined wedding and engagement ring.
Margaret had inherited a delicate diamond engagement ring from her mother in law and had a wide platinum D-shape wedding ring of her own which she also wished to use. Margret wanted a wide ring that she could wear as a combined wedding and engagement ring, so the design we came up with re-used the existing four claw setting from the engagement ring for the central brilliant cut 0.73ct diamond, and then by cutting open Margaret's 7mm wide wedding ring and turning it inside out, it created a flat profile to the band giving it a more contemporary look. We left the width of the band wide either side of the central diamond and then overlaid the grain set diamond shoulders to lead up to the top edge of the main diamond which added a little height and depth to the piece.
