A trilliant cut, white diamond engagement ring with heat treated sky blue shoulder diamonds
This very sparkly 5.6mm trilliant cut (sometimes known as trillion cut) 0.42cts central diamond has been all-around set with 2mm brilliant cut heat-treated sky blue and ice blue and H SI brilliant cut clear shoulder diamonds channel set in the band and these total 0.18cts. The matching platinum wedding ring has been set with 6 channel set 2mm sky blue and ice blue heat-treated diamonds totaling 0.18cts. The width of each band is about 3mm. The design is inspired by a sailing boat on the water. These are sold as a set.
The diamonds get their beautiful blue colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
