9ct Rose gold eternity rings with heat-treated coloured diamonds
Christine and Janet wanted a pair of eternity rings that were similar in design but were individual and suited each persons style perfectly. Janets ring is D shape in profile and 4mm wide. Christine's ring is courting profile and a little narrower at 3mm wide. Christine chose 2 2mm gold and chocolate cognac diamonds to be equally spaced at four points around the ring alternately and Janet chose white and heat-treated sky blue diamonds for her ring.Diamonds like this get their beautiful colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
