Ben's wedding ring inspired by family connections

Ben had his granddad's yellow gold signet ring that he wanted to melt up to use in his new wedding ring. We knew there wouldn't be quite enough metal there to be able to make the ring as wide as he wanted, and he liked rose gold, so when our goldsmiths melted the signet ring up at the bench we asked them to add new rose gold to the mixture to warm up the colour of the metal. We then looked at the family crest of his other grandfather which included three owls in a shield, so we sent this image to our engraver and asked him to re-create the three birds standing in a row on the outside of Ben's ring. Hand engraving in a real art form, and he managed to perfectly capture the character of the owls even though he had to scale them down to fit them into the width of the ring. The resulting wedding ring is a very easy to wear piece, but with the added sentimentality of incorporating elements from each side of his family.
