Alison's dress ring designed around her mother's sapphire
Alison and Waring wanted to design a dress ring for Alison using an oval sapphire from one of her own rings. Alison inherited the large sapphire from her mother when her parents lived in India in the 1940s. We based the design of the new ring on one of her existing rings, keeping the band width quite wide at 10mm tapering to 8mm towards the back all made from 18 carat yellow gold. The sapphire is simply set within the centre of the band in an end only setting made from palladium. Alison wanted to incorporate additional stones to help make the ring sparkle and choose four 2 mm HSI brilliant cut diamonds and two 2mm sapphires to match her central stone. To complete the ring Alison used the gold from her old ring to form 2mm borders around the flat band.
