Maylis' Art Nouveau inspired topaz and diamond dress ring
Harriet was chatting to James at an exhibition and he mentioned that he would love to create a special set of jewellery for his wife inspired by the work of 20th Century French designer René Lalique. James wanted the ring and matching earrings to be "an explosion of colour and petals" and to reflect the Art Nouveau style with which Lalique was synonymous. We created numerous designs for James to choose from, but it was this one that really caught his eye and our goldsmiths also relished the idea of creating such an interesting three dimensional piece. To create this spectacular ring we hand carved the flower in wax which was then cast in creamy 9 carat white gold. The warm white hue of the metal complements the 3.5mm 0.2ct brilliant cut deep blue topaz which sits at the centre of the flower. 62 brilliant cut topaz, totalling 1.29ct and 11 G/H VS brilliant cut diamonds, totalling 0.40ct, form the organically shaped petals and have been carefully set to form a subtle graduation of colour. A satinised finish completes this striking dress ring.
