Katie's asymmetric mixed metal diamond ring
Katie loved asymmetric design so wanted this to be a feature in her new bespoke ring. She wanted a ring that would fit the negative space between her stunning engagement ring titled ‘The Comet ring’ and wedding ring to make a stunning set of rings that fit together, using some jewellery she had inherited. She wanted the ring to incorporate different coloured precious metals to enable her to wear all of her jewellery together so decided to go for a 9ct yellow gold band and also use some of the platinum from the ring she inherited to create a beautiful twisting vine on one side of her ring to really give it that lovely asymmetric feel. Katie also wanted to use a 5mm old cut diamond she had inherited, she liked the idea of this being the main feature of the ring but also wanted to incorporate the asymmetric feel of the entire ring, so decided to have the diamond off-set from the centre of the ring with an asymmetric white gold end only setting to continue the look. The yellow gold band also continues the lovely asymmetric feel by being completely straight one side of the off-centre diamond and tapering on the opposite side. With the platinum overlay twisting on the tapered side to fill in the negative space. Katie also wanted to incorporate three small brilliant cut sparkly diamonds she inherited, after playing around with different positioning of the stones, Katie decided she wanted one invisibly set in the curl of the platinum overlay, one invisibly set in the tapered side of the bans and one also invisibly set in the straight side of the band.
