Platinum engagement ring with 0.63cts white and sky blue heat-treated diamonds
This engagement ring holds a 0.29cts princess cut H SI diamond which is flanked by brilliant cut heat-treated sky blue 3.5mm diamonds totalling 0.25cts. The solid platinum ring band is about 3.5mm wide at the front. The all-around set stones are held in slim settings such that the tips of the stones are visible as the band swoops below them from the elegant side view. This also means that a simple wedding band can sit flush with the band as it will slip underneath these overhanging settings. Coloured diamonds like this get their beautiful colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
