Zena's pear cut diamond and sapphire engagement ring
Bob brought Zena to the studio to design her engagement ring as a surprise. Zena was overwhelmed, as Bob explained his ideas for the design, and why. Bob was inspired by the photo of earth taken from the Voyager 1 satellite and the words of Carl Sagan the American astronomer. He wanted a spiral design that would represent the galaxy, with a “pale blue dot” off centre. Despite the vastness of the universe, and how small we are in it, Bob wanted to Zena to know that where he wanted to be was with her. After a lot of discussion Bob, Zena and designer Kerrie-Ann McNaughton designed a beautiful palladium twist ring, holding a central pear cut HVS 0.33ct diamond, blue 1.5mm sapphire and two 1.5mm 8 cut diamonds and inside of the band has been engraved with the words “suspended in a sunbeam”. Zena chose a high polish finish to complete the ring.
