A Bracelet Commemorating Ioana's Grandfather
Iona's bracelet is handmade using 9ct yellow gold from a sentimental family heirloom. To complete the ring as a commemorative piece, it has a hand-engraved design in memory of her grandfather.
Iona's Story
I've always had a great relationship with my grandfather, so when he passed away my family made sure I received his wedding band, which has become the rectangular section of my bracelet.
It is a beautiful commemorative piece, with special hand-engravings that reflect things he loved, and memories we shared. The mountain scene mirrors the breath-taking views from the family home he built in the mountains, where we spent most of our summer as children. While the vines and grapes engraving are because he was passionate about wine and grew his own vineyard.
On the reverse, we've replicated the engraving from inside his original wedding ring, which is a special phrase he called my grandmother. By matching the style of the font, even though the ring is now in a very different form, it retains elements of what made it his. And in a way means I can remember both him and my grandmother.
