As of late the engagement rings I have been designing with my customers in their consultations seem to be influenced in one of two ways: Antique or Modern.

Generally, Antique inspired engagement rings have delicate tapering bands with beaded detail, often with intricate settings. As with the namesake, antique style may often include heirloom jewellery, where we reform existing gold and reset gemstones. An old cut diamond is a frequent addition! Whereas the modern inspirations tend to have a band which is the same width all the way around with solid settings such as end-only or all-around. Modern makes me think of sleek, lines where the gemstone cut and shape often follow that. Perhaps emerald or baguette cuts take centre stage, with engravings to accentuate the lines.

Antique and Modern Engagement Rings

At the moment it seems to be popular to sway one way or the other. It truly comes down to the person’s style and what look they have always dreamt of. Whether you choose Antique or modern, by choosing bespoke you can still make sure the design matches you.

And, whatever your style or inspiration, here at Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery we create bespoke rings specifically for you . All you need is to bring your story to us and we will help come up with the design that is perfect for you!
