Rebecca Howarth is an integral part in the Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery business of which has been since she started. Initially she joined as Harriet’s Design Assistant in 2004, in the newly opened North Hertfordshire Jewellery Centre. Since then she’s grown with the business, progressed with each development and played a major part in its success. Without a doubt, her talent and ambition know no bounds so is deservedly now Director of Design. Consequently, she’s a big part of decision making for the company and future developments in design and production.

Rebecca also oversees the design teams across the 4 studios and shops and supports training and coaching. Whilst not as frequently, she still keeps her design mind connected with occasional bespoke commissions. As well as that she oversees and guides designs for our Ready to Wear collection. Furthermore she’s influential in gemstone and metal buying, with an ambition that every collection piece is crafted from Fairtrade metal. She ardently spreads the Fairtrade message across the industry and is also a board member on the National Association of Jewellers Education Committee.

Whilst completing her BA in Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University, she won a prestigious competition to design the University’s Ceremonial Mace. Alongside her tutors and the Sheffield Assay Office, Rebecca created the metre long, 3.5kg silver and gold structure. They then used it in all graduation ceremonies at the university. As the course completed its final year in 2023, she returned one last time to see it. Importantly, she was privileged to be the Mace bearer for their Art and Design graduation ceremony.

Above all, Rebecca’s a purely creative thinker and channels this passion in her spare time too. In 2013, she entered a competition to design a piece inspired by the Cheapside Hoard jewellery discovery. Unsurprisingly, she won the Gold Award with a flamboyant and creative neckpiece design. More recently, she challenged herself and self-taught digital drawing, particularly how to use Procreate to draw. Similarly, she also learnt how to paint in gouache. In essence Rebecca exudes creativity and has many great successes to share from it.
