Wedding Ring Set
Wedding jewellery and the three ring bridal sets that have become a regular part of western style and culture. This article discusses them.
Most of you will be familiar with the concept of wedding jewellery and the three ring bridal sets that have become a regular part of western style and culture, these of course being; engagement rings, wedding rings and eternity rings.
If you are thinking of having a set of wedding jewellery you will need to ask yourself a few questions:
1. How many rings do I want to have?
2. Where do I want to wear my rings?
3. Do I want all my rings to match?
It can be a little difficult to decide how far you want to go with the whole wedding jewellery set concept. You could simply choose to have a matching engagement ring and wedding ring for your girlfriend, or go for an engagement ring, wedding ring and eternity ring all in the same style, or even go as far as set of four with a matching wedding ring for yourself! Some people decide to skip the engagement ring for one reason or another and go straight to the wedding rings, but don’t forget you could always purchase an engagement ring or even a ring with an engagement ring style to it at a later date, perhaps to mark an anniversary or even as a lovely valentines gift! Or maybe you would like an engagement ring and a wedding ring, but aren’t sold on the whole concept of eternity rings. The number of matching rings you decide to go for really is a case of personal preferences, but if you aren’t quite sure you can always surprise her with an engagement ring and then let her decide! Of course if you really want to go all out for your wedding ceremony you could choose to have a complete jewellery set including matching bracelets, cufflinks, earrings, hair pins etc. for the whole wedding party!
One thing you need to bear in mind is where your partner likes to wear her rings. If you’re not quite sure have a look at how she wears her current jewellery. Try to bear in mind whether; she wears her rings on any finger, she is traditional and keeps her wedding ring finger free for the real deal, she wears lots of rings on one hand and, or if she likes to stick to convention or prefers the non-traditional route. Traditionally in western culture the engagement ring, wedding ring and eternity ring are worn on the same hand and the same finger, however some people find this uncomfortable, particularly if they like a chunky design style… so you could wear your rings on different fingers, it really is up to you!
It can be a little tricky if you have a very unusually shaped engagement ring. Try to bear this in mind if you are having an engagement ring commissioned as you could incorporate features such as a cut out section which would allow you to fit a wedding ring or eternity ring alongside it. Not to worry though, you could always go for a fitted band which matches the shape of your original ring, of even have the engagement ring adjusted or redesigned to fit as part of a set.
Wedding ring sets can be a lovely way to incorporate a theme that makes your jewellery have a certain sense of unity and togetherness. If you’re not sure how to do this though there are a whole variety of ways to achieve this lovely effect e.g. you could choose to have rings that are; exact duplicates of one another, with a mirrored effect, have matching shapes, gemstones, metal finishes, engraving, metal types, or just generally matching one another in style or theme. If you already have a ring, you can of course have something commissioned to match its style too!
