Morag's 18ct rose gold and heat treated diamond engagement ring

Morag wanted an engagement ring with yellow and blue heat treated diamonds. The band is 4mm wide at the front and tapers to 2mm at the back for comfort. The ring has a courting profile and a highly polished finish. The focus of the ring is on the alternating colours of the invisibly set heat treated diamonds at the front of the ring; 6 ocean blue 2mm brilliant cut and 5 canary yellow brilliant cuts totalling 0.33cts. The diamonds get their beautiful blue or yellow colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
