Lesley's rose gold, tourmaline and diamond engagement ring

Lesley came in to chat about her engagement ring with a good idea of what she was looking for - Art Deco style, in rose gold with a red stone. When we had a look at a selection of gems that we had in the cabinet she had eyes for only this gorgeous pink tourmaline and the rest of the design fell into place around it! The unusual chequerboard cut pattern really lent itself to having the princess cut diamonds either side, which we set in palladium so that the bright white of the metal blends into the white diamond sparkle, so the focus stays on the stones rather than the metal. The split band draws the eye out to the diamonds and to the tourmaline whilst giving the ring a light feel. We also made Lesley a simple, shaped wedding ring to fit around the curves of the engagement ring, highlighting the beauty of the original piece.
