18ct white gold twist style engagement ring with heat-treated green diamond
This 18ct white gold twist style engagement ring incorporates a central 0.51ct 5mm brilliant cut heat-treated forest green diamond with a combination of polished and tunstall finishes. The twist band deepens towards the front to hold the stone. The shoulders of the ring hold the diamond and there is a support underneath to keep the tension in the ring. The band is 4mm wide and D shape in profile. Coloured diamonds like this get their beautiful colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
