Platinum white and heat-treated blue diamond engagement ring inspired by geometric forms
Daniel and Birgit wanted a simple, platinum, contemporary design which was unusual and asymmetrical, inspired by geometric shapes. This simple design was perfect for them and the 0.06ct heat-treated ice blue diamond added a subtle touch of colour. The central diamond is a brilliant cut 0.24cts G/H SI diamond and another 1.5mm H SI brilliant cut diamond has been invisibly set into the band. Coloured diamonds like this get their beautiful colours when they are heated at very high temperatures and pressures to achieve this permanent colour change. Natural occurring diamonds of this colour are very rare and cost many thousands of pounds and so this treatment process brings these coloured diamonds within reach. This also means that the ring must not be heated up to very high temperatures (eg by a jeweller during resizing of the ring) so special care needs to be taken when resizing this ring in the future and the stone must be carefully removed and re-set during any future resizing work.
