Why are Diamonds associated with love?

Customers are always asking us how the tradition of using diamonds in engagement rings came about. People always assume that this is a very old tradition but in fact it actually only came about in the 1940s as a result of De Beers.

Prior to that couples more often than not used coloured gemstones - a tradition that we have tried to re-establish over the 10 years that we've been in business! There really are some lovely alternatives to diamonds either as the central stone or as side stones alongside a central diamond - take a look at our galleries of gemstone engagement rings for some ideas.

There's a great article from the BBC website about diamonds and their association with love. Take a look here.
