The Children of Juan de la Torre

The HK Bespoke team was delighted to receive this wonderful image of the children of Juan de la Torre. The poster they are holding is a special message of thanks for our fundraising efforts to help rebuild their community after a devastating fire.

During Fairtrade Fortnight (29th Feb – 13th March) we took on “Miles for Miners” to raise money for the CRED Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund for the MACDESA mining community in Peru that was devastated by the fire in July 2015. The challenge involved walking, running or cycling to cover 1,554 miles (the distance across Peru). Vital community assets such as livestock, the school as well as 300 homes were severely damaged or destroyed by the fire and the Disaster Relief Fund is aiming to raise £25,000 to help rebuild the community. We covered a total of 1,622 miles and raised £270 for the community.

We’re so pleased that this funding can help in a small way towards the redevelopment of the community. The rebuilding and restoring of the school is the priority for the community and 100% of donated funds will go directly towards this project.
