Diamond Solitaires

Written by on 21 April 2010

I love the timeless elegance of diamond solitaire rings but just because they only have one stone, doesn't mean that they're restricted to a single design.

Here is one of Alice's ready to wear designs currently on display in our Cambridge showroom.

This elegant platinum design has a traditional four claw setting holding a 0.24cts brilliant cut H SI quality diamond. However, the classic split shoulders have been given an antique look by using a grained effect which was applied by hand, by our master goldsmiths. This grained or beaded effect is often applied to the ring to add that little extra sparkle but without actually using any extra stones!

Or this pretty design by Tracy, which has an intricate setting.

This sparkling, 0.25ct brilliant cut H SI diamond has, again, been set in four claws but in this design, there is delicate engraving on each claw and the shoulders have been pierced out, as you see in the image below. The diamond has been set on points, which changes the overall look of the design and also enables the 18ct white gold band to flow upto the stone and become two of the claws.

Alternatively, why not chose a different cut of stone to change the look of a classic diamond solitaire, like this previously commissioned platinum ring with a 0.53ct marquise cut H VS2 diamond - isn't it striking!
