Black diamonds - the next big thing?

Written by April Page on 18 June 2010

Guy or girl it was hard to escape the release of the new Sex and the City film earlier this month. Whether it be the numerous repeats of the television episodes the weeks before hand or the front page press coverage of the premier in both New York and London.

Being a big fan of the show I was counting down the days last week. I'm hoping not to spoil the story line for others hoping to see the film for themselves but I just have to say how excited I was to see Carrie (the trend setting lead character) presented with a HUGE black diamond engagement ring.

The one used in the film is said to be a 5ct stone set in 18 carat white gold with 80 (yes 80) brilliant cut pave set diamonds. As mentioned in my other blogs posted here, I am a huge fan of coloured diamonds, and would love for the use of a black diamond in such a popular film to give others the idea to include them in their own engagement ring or jewellery. They really can create such fantastically unique pieces-perfect for those who wish to be traditional but with a slight twist.

At Harriet Kelsall Bespoke Jewellery we have made many different pieces of jewellery featuring black diamonds, from a stone set wedding ring to an Ace of Spades inspired dress ring

So if you or your partner loves the dramatic effect a black stone can create get in touch - I'm sure one of our designers would jump at the chance of creating such a wow factor piece!
